Trustpilot alternatives for local businesses

For most local businesses, the best Trustpilot alternative is your free Google Business Profile, plus a tool that asks every customer for a review. Birdeye, Podium, NiceJob and GatherUp suit local service firms. REVIEWS.io, Yotpo and Feefo suit online stores. You can also keep Trustpilot as one site among several.

What are the best Trustpilot alternatives for local businesses?

It depends on where your customers look. A plumber, dentist or salon is usually found on Google Maps, so Google reviews come first. An online store sells to people who never visit, so product reviews and seller ratings matter more. The table shows what each vendor's own site says, checked on 12 October 2026.

What does Trustpilot cost, and how does it work?

Trustpilot has a free business account with 50 review invitations a month. Paid plans start "from $99" a month "per domain, billed annually," and its plans page says "All contracts are a 12-month commitment." Anyone with a genuine experience can review you on Trustpilot, invited or not, and the reviews live on Trustpilot's site.

Trustpilot's guidelines for businesses are strict about invitations. They say "We don't allow incentivized reviews on Trustpilot." They also list as not allowed "Inviting only those people who you know have had a positive experience" and sending happy customers to review while unhappy ones are told to contact you. Trustpilot adds that "we don't remove reviews just because a business thinks they are unfair or critical."

Why might a local business prefer Google reviews over Trustpilot?

Because local shoppers find you on Google. Google says a Business Profile is free, and its help page on local ranking says "More reviews and positive ratings can help your business's local ranking." Trustpilot reviews show on Trustpilot. For a shop, clinic or trade, Google is usually the first place to build reviews.

Google's own tips are simple: ask customers to visit a Google review link or scan a QR code. Customers need a Google Account to post. Google's content policy also bans businesses that "selectively solicit positive reviews from customers," so ask everyone. Our guide to finding your Google review link shows where to get it.

It isn't either/or. Many owners want Google first, then an industry site like Healthgrades, Houzz or Tripadvisor, and Trustpilot too if they sell online.

Who are Trustpilot's main competitors for local businesses?

For local service businesses, the main Trustpilot competitors are review request tools that send customers to Google and other sites: Birdeye, Podium, NiceJob and GatherUp. Google Business Profile itself is free. Each has a different price model, so check the vendor's own page before you book a demo.

Google Business Profile. Free, and it's where your Google reviews live. Google's page says you can "respond to customer reviews." It doesn't send reminders for you. Better when: you want zero cost and will ask customers yourself.

Birdeye. Its homepage headline is "AI Coworkers for Multi-location Brands." Prices aren't listed; the pricing page asks for your details and number of locations. Better when: you run many locations and want reviews, listings and messaging in one place. See Birdeye alternatives.

Podium. Its pricing page says to "talk to our sales team for details." Its reviews feature says it can "Automatically collect 5-star reviews via text." Better when: you want texting, webchat, payments and an AI assistant together. See Podium alternatives.

NiceJob. Starter is $75 a month and Pro $125, with "SMS & email review requests," "No contracts" and a 14-day free trial. Better when: you want text and email requests and referral tools.

GatherUp. $99 a month for one location, with "Up to 300 SMS + 3,000 email credits per location per month" and a 14-day trial. Better when: you want text plus email, or NPS surveys.

Which Trustpilot alternatives suit online stores?

If you mostly sell online, look at REVIEWS.io, Yotpo and Feefo. All three show prices on their sites and list online store features such as product reviews, order-based pricing or Google Seller Ratings. They suit a store with order data more than a plumber with a van.

ToolWhat its pricing page saysBetter than ReviewUsToday when

Where does ReviewUsToday fit?

ReviewUsToday emails each customer a one-tap rating request, sends up to two reminders, and points happy customers to the review sites you pick. You can choose from 31 sites, and Trustpilot is one of them, next to Google, Facebook, Healthgrades and Houzz. Plans are $50, $100 and $300 a month, with no contract.

Every customer sees the public review buttons, including people who rate 1 to 3 stars. They also get a private feedback form that alerts you. That keeps you inside Google's and Trustpilot's rules on selective asking. If I ran a local shop, I'd point most customers at Google and keep Trustpilot as a second button.
